About the Position

Talent Acquisition Specialist – Full Time

The Talent Acquisition Specialist works directly with the VP of HR to create and execute a winning strategy for recruitment and vetting of highly qualified candidates who share our passion for helping the homeless and who are a strong fit for Mel Trotter Ministries’ Christ-centered, diverse culture. The TAS is a relationship builder who actively seeks partnership with community agencies and recruiting engines to effectively share MTM employment opportunities. This role manages all posting platforms and our ATS, and ensures adherence to guidance for photography and verbiage for all posts. This individual will coordinate and provide a bias-free interview and reference checking process, and will provide hiring managers and the VP of HR with solid hiring recommendations. This role provides consultation for creating job descriptions and interview questions, as well as training documents. The TAS ensures excellent representation of MTM at relevant career fairs, and plays a role in providing meaningful and relevant orientations and onboarding. This role also provides minimal but critical coverage for our MTM Call Center.

* Maintain and research new job posting platforms and opportunities

* Research opportunities, and work to establish and nurture excellent professional relationships in the recruiting community, including community agencies and organizations, job posting platform vendors, and local churches

* Oversee and ensure timely maintenance of our ATS and all posting platforms

* Ensure and follow all recruiting and vetting processes, including digital record-keeping

* Provide hiring recommendations to VP of HR and hiring managers.

* Active participation in creating job descriptions and job posts that promote our anti-racist, welcoming culture, and which are free of unconscious bias.


* Ensures that orientation, training, and onboarding pieces are updated and stocked

* Ensures that all training sessions are set up to a level of excellence, hospitality, and timeliness

*Ensures that all company onboarding is scheduled and completed with consistent accuracy and excellence, with documentation


* Ensure weekly updates of recruiting progress are accurately provided in a timely manner

* Ensures staff internal postings, and HR updates are provided accurately

* Updates all recruiting needs each week on all platforms, refreshes posts

* Partners with Ministry Assistant and Church Gifts Officer to recruit in all partner churches

* Communicates all onboarding schedules with trainers, managers, HR, and attendees

Call Center Functions (limited regular assistance and ad hoc assistance upon request)

* Provide professional, warm, enthusiastic telephone greetings

* Provide accurate information regarding MTM and community programs 

* Assist callers with donation drive questions and drop offs


Bring your strengths: (Job Requirements)

* Bachelor’s Degree or HR certificate preferred, or five years related HR experience

* Minimum 3 years successful recruiting experience, including understanding of diversity recruiting

* High level knowledge of job posting platforms and social media recruiting strategies

* Highly organized, detail-oriented, productive

* Strong professional writing skills with experience creating job descriptions and interview questions

* Professional communication and interpersonal skills, including peer coaching skills

* Skilled use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Working Conditions:

* Regular standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, pushing, or pulling

* Understand, speak, read, and write fluent English

* Required to talk and hear

* Able to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally, and 20 pounds regularly.

* Able to use fine motor hand functions
